The Program
The Claire School of Dance has been sharing the joy of movement with children for over 13 years. Our creative movement program is designed for Pre Ks and Kinders. Classes not only introduce children to dance concepts, but enhance their creativity and overall development. Ballet/movement classes for children grades 1-4 introduce basic ballet and movement technique and vocabulary while providing the opportunity for self-expression.
The Instructors
Roxanne Claire (grades 1-4) received her training in classical ballet from Valerie Roche, Royal Academy of Dancing, London, in Omaha, Nebraska, and performed with the Omaha Civic Ballet. She received her training in contemporary dance in Europe, studying notably with Jean Gaudin (Carolyn Carlson) and Ruth Barnes (Merce Cunningham), both of Paris. Since moving to Houston, she has presented her choreography at Diverseworks and Barnevelder, as well as staged 7 annual productions of her original New York Nutcracker. More about Roxanne Claire can be found at www.roxanneclaire.com.
Rachel Walton (Kinder class) was trained at the Claire School of Dance. Specializing in small children, Rachel has a gift with the wee ones. She was an assistant for the Fairy Magic Dance Camp for 3 years. This is her third year teaching for the Claire School of Dance.
