May 2026

It’s been a wonderful year of dance! We had our Parent Observation Days last week. Students at St. Matthew’s and Grace Day School demonstrated what they had learned and at the end of class posed for a class photo with Claire School of Dance gifts.  Some of our students will be heading to kindergarten in […]

March 2026

March dance class info. If February was our month to work on rhythm, March is the month of leprechauns and fairies! The St. Matthew’s class kicked off the month by making a fairy house, which we placed in the garden outside the dance room door.  Shhh! Fairies are very shy! But we left beads and […]

May 2025

This month we made carrot cake and cream cheese frosting. Students grated the carrots as well as completing all the other steps in the recipes.  Our craft this month was a portrait of Peter Rabbit, using cardboard and one of the “wells” of an egg carton. We had so much fun making the art […]

April 2025

Honey! We’re in the kitchen! April classes focused on honey orange blossom cupcakes and bee art projects. Our craft project was a bee-themed fabric sachet – lavender and cinnamon! – festooned with a bee-shaped button.  Students learned a basic running stitch as well as how to sew on a button. The cupcakes were both yummy […]

March 2025

We held two separate sessions in March: a spring break camp and our regular monthly classes. Our spring break camp made a spinich and chicken pasta dish and mini bundt cakes. The theme of our regular classes was My Neighbor Totoro, that Japanese anime (is there any other kind?) favorite. Both age groups made soot […]

February 2025

Time to jazz things up! Jazz apples, that is. For our February 2025 classes, we made a Jazz apple Dutch baby (that’s a baked pancake to you). Our art project was based on the cover of Dave Brubeck’s album, Take Five.

January 2025

It’s a new year! To kick off 2025, our cooking classes were dedicated to Paris. We made omelettes, rataouille, and Madeleine tea cakes. All from scratch, of course. Our art project inspiration was the work of Henri Matisse.

December 2024

Tis the holiday season! For this month’s class, we made and decorated gingerbread men cookies. And because the holidays are the “season of light” we used oil pastels to create our own candle glow.

November 2024

The November cooking class made pumpkin scones with maple frosting and blackberry jam  – both from scratch. We also made a leaf and twig art project that has a flameless candle illuminating the modge podged-paper. We had  a lot of fun and we learned a lot about how to safely can fruit. (Hint: cover the […]

September 2024

Ms. Claire was out of the country during September this year.  She sends a photo of Morocco and a reminder that October cooking classes include cookies to celebrate Day of the Dead as well as bat cookies. Registration is open now for the October 19th classes. Children ages 4-6 attend the 10 a.m. to noon […]
