May 2026

It’s been a wonderful year of dance! We had our Parent Observation Days last week. Students at St. Matthew’s and Grace Day School demonstrated what they had learned and at the end of class posed for a class photo with Claire School of Dance gifts.  Some of our students will be heading to kindergarten in the fall and we will miss them dearly.

However, we are offering summer classes at both locations: June for St. Matthew’s and July for Grace Day School.

We will also be offering summer camp programs for students 4-7 and 7-12.  Our younger students will be delighted by our Unicorn Fairy Princess camp, offered in either a one week or one day program in the month of June.  Older students will be learning classic French recipes in our Oh la la! Paris! camp. Offered as either a one week or one day camp in July, students will also learn about famous French artists. Summer camps are limited to 4 students so parents are encouraged to enroll right away.

More information is on our summer program page; the registration link is at the top of our home page.

March 2026

March dance class info.

If February was our month to work on rhythm, March is the month of leprechauns and fairies! The St. Matthew’s class kicked off the month by making a fairy house, which we placed in the garden outside the dance room door.  Shhh! Fairies are very shy! But we left beads and flowers for them to hide under. We’ll have more fairy activities later in the month.

March & summer cooking class info

Our Samson Cooking School for Kids class this month will make Irish apple cake with vanilla sauce as well as a Celtic knot art project. Faith and begorrah! You’ll want to be there. We only have room for 4 bakers so sign up today! Class is held Saturday, March 21, 3-5 p.m.

Fairies are also the theme for our June summer baking camps.  We are offering both a one week camp and a one day camp. Our week long camp is June 8-12, from 10 a.m. to noon.  Our Saturday camp is June 27, also 10 a.m. to noon. We’ll be making edible fairy houses, unicorn cupcakes, and mini cheesecakes with fairy floss (as cotton candy is known in Britain).

Our July camps are focused on French cooking. Ooh lala! Paris! camp includes eclairs, potatoes au gratin, and mousse au chocolat. We’ll also be learning about famous French artists as well as a few words in French. The week-long camp is July 13-17 and the Saturday camp is July 18th. Both sessions are 10 a.m. to noon.

Camps are open to bakers ages 4-12. Registration is HERE.

Spring Break

A reminder: our spring break is March 9 thrugh the 14. NO CLASSES THIS WEEK. We look forward to seeing everyone the following week!

May 2025

This month we made carrot cake and cream cheese frosting.

Students grated the carrots as well as completing all the other steps in the recipes.  Our craft this month was a portrait of Peter Rabbit, using cardboard and one of the “wells” of an egg carton. We had so much fun making the art project we forgot to take pictures of the carrot cake!

Next month: lemon icebox mini pies and lavender rosemary candles in real lemon shells. We’ll be harvesting the rosemary from the garden.

April 2025

Honey! We’re in the kitchen! April classes focused on honey orange blossom cupcakes and bee art projects. Our craft project was a bee-themed fabric sachet – lavender and cinnamon! – festooned with a bee-shaped button.  Students learned a basic running stitch as well as how to sew on a button.

The cupcakes were both yummy and adorable in their bee-themed cupcake holder. Each cupcake had a sugar bee decorating its frosting!

Next month we make carrot cake and salute Peter Rabbit!

March 2025

We held two separate sessions in March: a spring break camp and our regular monthly classes. Our spring break camp made a spinich and chicken pasta dish and mini bundt cakes.

The theme of our regular classes was My Neighbor Totoro, that Japanese anime (is there any other kind?) favorite.

Both age groups made soot sprite cake pops, special recipe cake fragments held together with ganache and then dipped in melted chocolate before adding candy eyes. Younger cooks made paper images of Totoro, while the older group learned a couple new stitches to make felt Totoros.

February 2025

Time to jazz things up! Jazz apples, that is. For our February 2025 classes, we made a Jazz apple Dutch baby (that’s a baked pancake to you).

Our art project was based on the cover of Dave Brubeck’s album, Take Five.

January 2025

It’s a new year!

To kick off 2025, our cooking classes were dedicated to Paris. We made omelettes, rataouille, and Madeleine tea cakes. All from scratch, of course. Our art project inspiration was the work of Henri Matisse.

December 2024

Tis the holiday season! For this month’s class, we made and decorated gingerbread men cookies. And because the holidays are the “season of light” we used oil pastels to create our own candle glow.

November 2024

The November cooking class made pumpkin scones with maple frosting and blackberry jam  – both from scratch. We also made a leaf and twig art project that has a flameless candle illuminating the modge podged-paper.

We had  a lot of fun and we learned a lot about how to safely can fruit. (Hint: cover the jars with water and boil for ten minutes. When the lids pop DOWN during the cooling period, you know you have a vaccum.)

September 2024

Ms. Claire was out of the country during September this year.  She sends a photo of Morocco and a reminder that October cooking classes include cookies to celebrate Day of the Dead as well as bat cookies.

Registration is open now for the October 19th classes. Children ages 4-6 attend the 10 a.m. to noon class while children ages 7 to 11 attend the 3-5 p.m. class.

Space is limited to just 4 students. Register NOW!
