GLOW Family Event


GLOW , our regular family event, will be held 6 p.m. Saturday, February 18th, in the basement of Grace United.

 We furnish music and snacks as well as glow sticks and glow tape. You come in dark clothing. (Nothing white, please.)

Use the glow tape to create an imaginative glow-in-the-dark costume!

Claire Dance students and their families are invited to come join the fun!


Bill (Bojangles) Robinson – February Unit Study

Save the Date! – Photo Day

 Our annual class and individual photo day is Saturday, March 4th. Class time schedules will be posted in the waiting rooms. You can download the schedule here. If you cannot make the class time for your class photo, you are welcome to come after 12 noon for an individual or sibling photo.



Be On Time!

Parents are reminded to arrive on time for class and to pick up students as soon as class ends. At the discretion of the teacher, students arriving more than 10 minutes late may be refused permission to attend class.


Summer Registration Open

On-line registration for summer classes and camps is now open.  The popular Frozen, Fairy Magic, Fashion Camp, Camp Cupcake, and Princess camps return. New this year are Moana Camp and Trolls Camp.

December 2016

No Classes Dec. 13th  – Jan 2nd

The Claire School of Dance will be  CLOSED for winter break Tuesday, December 13th through Monday, January 2rd. Children’s classes will resume Tuesday, January 3rd.

 We WILL hold classes, Monday, December 12th, as a “make up” for January 2nd.

Parents Day in December

Parents are invited to attend class Dec. 5-10th for a first-hand look at what students have been learning. Free candy canes at the end of class!

 Free Holiday Craft Workshop

The Claire School of Dance invites students and siblings to participate in a free holiday craft workshop Saturday, December 10th, 12 – 2 p.m. in our Art Upstairs room at the Grace United studio. Make an ornament or spin a dreidel. Join the holiday fun!

Winter Break CampsWinterCamp-1.2.2014 1027

It’s the return of Camp Candy Cane and Winter Wonderland!  Camp Candy Cane will be held 9 am to 2 pm December 19-23. Winter Wonderland will be held 9 am to 2 p.m. December 27-30 (No camp Monday, December 26th).  The fee is $250 for Candy Cane and $200 for Wonderland. Early drop off by arrangement.

Open to students ages 4-10, our winter break camps include baking, crafts, and lots of winter fun! Partial attendance possible on a space available basis. Registration is online.

Congrats, Contessa and Vivienne!

Congratulations are in order for our newest Spotlight students, Contessa Moore and Vivienne Roselius, seen here in our latest video project, Pillow Chair. Contessa and Vivienne have been students at CSD for 7 years. Last year, taking class twice a week, they zipped through Level 2 and this fall start Level 3. Read more on the home page of our website!


Congrats Miss Rose!

In addition to completing her MFA at the University of Oklahoma this spring, our Miss Rose is now coordinator of the newly revamped Children’s Division at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, one of the country’s most renowned ballet schools. Miss Rose taught for CSD for several years before moving to Houston Ballet Academy and Kansas City Ballet Academy. Way to go, Rose!

Adult Classes

Claire School of Dance also offers dance classes for adults!

Pilates classes, which strengthen back and ab muscles, remain on Tuesday evenings 7:30-8:30 pm.

Our Sunday intermediate/ advanced  ballet class remains  noon to 1:30 at Grace United.

Our Adult beginner modern class, moves to Thursdays 6:30-7:30. This class plays with both gravity and rhythm and is accessible to everyone.

All adult classes are at Grace United and are pay as you go. Come join us!

The Claire School of Dance will be  CLOSED for winter break December 14th through January 2rd. There will be adult ballet Sunday, January 3rd and children’s classes will resume Monday, January 4th.

At 2 p.m. December 13th, the Claire School of Dance will present our 14th annual New York Nutcracker onstage at St. John’s School, Buffalo Speedway at Westheimer. Admission to this one hour production is $15 for adults, $10 for children.

Every performer gets 2 free tickets.  Free tickets are picked up at Grace United 10 a.m. to noon Saturday December 5th OR during class  times at Lambert Hall December 8, 9 and 11th OR at the run-through rehearsal Saturday, December 12th, at St John’s School. You may also purchase tickets and pick up t-shirts at this time. If you did not order a t-shirt, we may have a limited number of extra t-shirts available. Payment is required for pick-up.

Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door. Box office opens at 1 p.m. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.

  Nutcracker Bouquets

Post-performance bouquets are a traditional offering to dancers. Custom Nutcracker bouquets may be ordered until 2 p.m. Saturday, December 12th. They will be available at the box office starting at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 13th. These specialty flowers are $15.

Orders may be placed on the bulletin board in the waiting rooms or at t shirt pickup.

 Winter Break Camp

Parents Day Demonstrations   CAT_Ballerina-recital

Students at Cathedral House have their Demonstration May 15th  on the following schedule:

Toddler 2:       10:30

Primary 1/2:    10:00

Kinder:               9:30

Kinkaid students will have their Demonstration: May 15th at 2:00 p.m. in the Big Room.

All Toddler, CM1 and CM2 classes at Lambert Hall and Grace United will have their Demonstration in class, the week of May 11th.  Parents are invited to watch what the children have learned. All children will receive fairy crowns and flowers. NO MAKEUPS ARE ALLOWED IN MAY.

(If your child DOES NOT wear a uniform, her demonstration is in class. If she DOES wear a uniform, she is in the May 16th performance.

Students who take classes at Lambert Hall and Grace United and who are in Preballet, Primary, Tap, Jazz, Hippity Hop, or any Level ballet class have their Parents Day Demonstration Saturday, May 16th at 3 p.m. at Hogg Middle School in the Heights.

Students should arrive by 1:15. Dress rehearsal starts at 1:30. Doors open at 2:30 for parents.

Students must wear the class uniform and wear hair in a bun or pony tail (if long) or pulled off face (if short).

Recital DVD Orders

We will be videotaping the recital at Hogg. Orders for DVDs will be taken the last week of class and at the Demonstration.

Congratulations, Caroline!

Caroline Hamilton, who started with CSD when she was 6 and studied with us for 8 years, has been accepted to the Rock program for their summer intensive. If you saw the film First Position, you will remember that Youth Grand Prix winner Michaela DePrince, now with the Dutch National Ballet, is a product of the Rock program. All that hard work has paid off, Caroline! We are proud of you!

Studio C Now Finishedstudio C

We now have 3 studios at Grace United. Studio C now has a new dance floor and sound system. We are growing at CSD!

Claire School of Dance Receives ABT Certification

Claire School of Dance is pleased to announce that it has once again been awarded the respected American Ballet Theatre certification for National Training Curriculum for Pre-Primary through Level 3.
